History
In 1979 I became introduced to the Standard Poodle by a friend, Martin James of Minmist Standard Poodles. He
happened to be moving to Lethbridge, from Ontario, and owned 3 standards -a white male, a silver male, and a
black female (who was expecting her first litter at the time of the move). Prior to that I was actively involved in
the breeding, training, and showing of Shetland Sheepdogs. I became instantly attracted to the standard poodle
because of their outgoing, friendly attitude. Their elegance and sweet loving disposition was an instant attraction to
me. As it happened, I purchased my first standard from the expectant litter born on May 1, 1979. She was a
cream female known as "Angie", and registered as Minmist's Love's
Angelique. She was out of Am./Can. Ch. Love Story of Torbec X Bibelot You Were Meant For Me. Angie was very patient while I spent Saturday afternoons
learning how to groom and show her. She completed her Championship with her novice handler showing her at the age
of 2 years. We tried doing some obedience, but alas, as soon as she heard the clapping from the crowd, she
stopped and stood in the middle of the ring while her owner completed the obedience pattern. My life had changed
in the meantime, and my role as a single mom of two boys, with a new career just starting, meant that Angie would
not continue into breeding or obedience. Angie was a healthy happy pet until one day, at the age of 7 years, she
suffered intestinal torsion. I rushed her to my vet for surgery, but they could not save her. She died on my
birthday, in January 1987. My youngest son was 12 years of age. When I gave him the news, he clutched her leash
to his heart and sobbed. Later that night, when I went to check on him, I saw he had fallen asleep...still clutching
her leash beside him. On a piece of paper were these words: "January 20 is the worst day of my life. My dog Angie died. It is 6:24
P.M. and Angie died about an hour ago at 5:14 P.M. I was playing Atari games, happy and cheerful because of the
good news this morning that Angie had surgery, but she would probably be OK. Then my mom came home and asked
me to shut off the Atari with tears in her eyes. My Grandma came in 5 minutes later and talked to my brother and
me. After they left I just cracked up crying. I cried for an hour when I started this note. Now it's 6:73 and I am
still crying. Sometime after school I am going to get a piece of the sidewalk from our old house where we put our
names and Angie's footprint in the sidewalk. I have two notes from my mom with Angie's name in too. Tony Sera - I am 12 years old and will always remember Angie and the happiness she brought." |

With Angie's sudden death, I began to consider again getting back to showing, training, & breeding dogs. I
remembered how much I loved Martin's silver boy. So I began the search for a silver standard. On February 20,
1987, "Danny" - Can. Ch. Bibelot's Que Sera Sera Plata CD, joined our
family.

Our beloved Danny went to "Rainbrow Bridge"
at the age of 15 years. We were so saddened as we said goodbye to Danny,
but his memories live on in our hearts and in his children.

On Mother's Day in 1990,
"Cissy" - Can. Ch. Bibelot's Serenade the Blues CD arrived at the age
of 11 weeks from the same breeder as Danny-Susan Fraser of Bibelot Standard
Poodles in Ontario. Cissy started off her show career with two Puppy Groups. She finished at 3 years of age, with a little
delay as she also had a litter of puppies 6 months prior. She went on to complete her CD in the same year. At
the age of 7 years she started agility and continued to compete until 10
years of age.

Our beloved Cissy joined her buddy, Danny (Ch

missed but fondly loved and remembered for everything she has taught
us in her 14 years of life.

We have certainly had our set backs, and the main one was not
being able to breed Cissy again. Thus came the search for a new female. Penny
Harney provided me with a beautiful white female, who became the foundation for
Seransil Poodles. See Our Foundation
